ORGANIZATIONAL FRAMEWORK FOR CSIRT: A CASE FOR DEVELOPING NATIONAL RESEARCH AND EDUCATION NETWORK

Abstract

Academic institutions worldwide embrace communication network and Internet services for their academic activities and collaboration. National Research and Education Network attacks in an organize fashion. This calls for effective and efficient cyber security incident response team security incident response team, policies and guidelines for cyber security incident management. We found that organizational CSIRT framework to be an important factor to an effective and efficient cyber security incident management. Finally, we contributed by identifying challenges of cyber security incident management within the NgREN. We also created an organizational CSIRT framework for an effective and efficient cyber security incident management in NREN. We recommended NgREN to implement the framework for cyber security incident management, develop security policies and guidelines for better cyber security incident management, sign memoranda of understanding and analysis
